John J. Coyle, in his book Supply Chain Management: A Logistics Perspective, has defined logistics as, “Logistics is about getting the right product, to the right customer, in the right quantity, in the right condition, at the right place, at the right time, and at the right cost (the seven Rs of Logistics).” Simply put, logistics is all about a single organization that deals in the procurement, distribution, and maintenance of various types of products of the client.

Supply Chain, on the other hand, is a wider term and includes many different organizations doing the same logistics work within its bounds. In addition to the work undertaken by the logistics department, the supply chain also takes care of the marketing, development, and financing of various products. Having talked about logistics and supply chain, let’s have a look at the skills that are required for this job:

  • Good Interpersonal Skills: The ability to talk to people belonging to various age groups and having different temperaments is important in a logistics job.
  • Good Knowledge About The Market: As you have to work mainly for the commercial world, having good knowledge about the market and its trends is important.
  • Quick Decision-Making Skills: You should be able to make the right decision by analyzing any situation so that both your organization as well as the client does not face any loss.
  • Adaptable: Working in the logistics and supply chain department, you will be faced with many complex circumstances, you should know how to adapt to these circumstances and tackle with them as well.

If you have these skills then getting a good logistics and supply chain job would not be a difficult task.
